The Standard Series and ThriftyMake filament is manufactured overseas, and can feature more inconsistencies in the dimensional accuracy. There are also occasional instances of bad/tangled spooling. We do, of course, offer free replacements anytime there is a bad spool. ThriftyMake is discounted further because we were able to work with a manufacturer that produced the filament at a cheaper cost than our Standard Series, and we wanted to pass along those savings to our customer.
